Nokia partners with Comarch over IoT
Networking giant Nokia has commenced a technology partnership with Polish software vendor Comarch to develop IoT platforms aimed at key industries.
It has already become apparent that a key feature of IoT will be its ability to enable new services for a wide range of vertical industries. Networking vendors are accepting that in order to remain at the center of this trend they need to partner extensively to augment their own core competencies.
Comarch has a long history in the OSS/BSS field but has also been involved in M2M for some time. The companies will work in the domains of connectivity management platforms as well as vertical applications services.
“IoT applications are being rapidly developed all over the world,” said Thorsten Robrecht, Head of Advanced Mobile Networks Solutions at Nokia. “Nokia has the expertise and innovation strength to set up the necessary ecosystems, and believes firmly in open collaboration with partners to build future applications across industries.”
“We’re keen to bring the cooperation between Comarch and Nokia to the next level,” said Mariusz Lasek, Comarch Technologies CEO. “The broad scope of the agreement reflects our vast investment in software and hardware around IoT for various industries such as e-health, low energy devices and automotive over the last year.”
In other Nokia news it has announced a client win with Tele2 in the Netherlands, to be its small cell supplier. The first Implementation of Nokia’s Flexi Zone solution will be at Tele2’s flagship store in Amsterdam, and it will roll them out of fill LTE not-spots elsewhere in due course.
