STMicroelectronics, a global leader in semiconductor solutions, has introduced the STM32H573I-DK Discovery kit, a versatile development board that promises to accelerate the creation of secure, smart, and connected devices. This new offering empowers developers to explore the full capabilities of STM32H5 microcontrollers (MCUs), renowned for their high-performance processing and advanced security features.

The STM32H5 series of MCUs has found applications in diverse fields, including smart sensors, industrial controllers, networking equipment, personal electronics, and medical devices. With the STM32H573I-DK Discovery kit, developers gain access to an array of integrated features within the STM32H5, including analog peripherals, timers, the ST ART (Adaptive Real-Time) Accelerator™, media interfaces, and mathematical accelerators. This enables the swift evaluation of new designs for industrial programmable logic controllers (PLC), motor drives, and smart appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, and washing machines. Other potential applications encompass alarm controllers, communication hubs, and smart lighting controls.

The STM32H573I-DK Discovery kit is an all-in-one solution, featuring an STM32H5 microcontroller, a vibrant color touch display, a digital microphone, and versatile interfaces such as USB, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi®. Additionally, the board incorporates an audio codec, flash memory, and headers for connecting expansion shields and daughterboards, enhancing its adaptability for various projects.

To streamline the development process, STMicroelectronics offers the STM32CubeH5 MCU software package, consolidating all essential components needed to create applications on the STM32H5, including code examples and application code. This package seamlessly integrates with the STM32Cube ecosystem, which provides additional software resources to facilitate application development. Furthermore, ST provides the STM32CubeMX tool for configuring and initializing the MCU, ensuring a user-friendly development experience.

The STM32H5 series, introduced in March 2023, boasts the Arm® Cortex®-M33 embedded microcontroller core, operating at an impressive 250MHz. Notably, it is the first microcontroller to support ST’s Secure Manager system-on-chip security solutions, which combine Arm TrustZone® security with ST’s STM32Trust framework. These security features offer trusted storage, cryptography, attestation, and updates. The MCUs also incorporate side-channel protected hardware cryptographic accelerators and target recognized security certifications, including PSA Certified Level 3 and GlobalPlatform SESIP3.

In line with its commitment to facilitating development, STMicroelectronics has equipped the STM32H573I-DK Discovery kit with exemplary demonstrations of how to leverage integrated security services. Additionally, all necessary software tools and support are readily available within the STM32Cube development ecosystem.

Both the STM32H573I-DK Discovery Kit board and the H5 Nucleo Board NUCLEO-H563ZI are now accessible through ST’s eStore and authorized distributors. The Discovery Kit board is attractively priced at $98.75, while the Nucleo Board is available for just $28.75.
